Winter Skincare

Your-Skin--Expert-Advice-Results

Autumn is here and lets be honest it feels like winter, it is cold!! It's the the time for warm jumpers, curling up in front of the fire and hot chocolates. Who doesn't like winter?

Here's the thing, as the weather changes, temperatures drop your skin can suffer. Now's the time to change up your skincare routine as skin can become drier.

Which products should I use on my skin?

Cleansers

Creamier based cleansers, are a good swap in autumn/winter. They are more gentle than the foaming ones, such Alumier hydraboost or sensicalm. They have calming ingredients that help to repair the hydralipid barrier that can become damaged due to the constant flitting between cold out doors and the heating in doors.

Exfoliation

It's important not to over exfoliate as this can damage the skins barrier. However using a AHA (alpha hydroxy acids), such as lactic acid can if used correctly actually reinforce the skin barrier. Lactic acid not only helps to exfoliate the skin, it is hydrating as it pulls in moisture to the skin which can help improve barrier function but will also improve signs of ageing, fine lines and wrinkles, dark spots. Exfoliating 1-2 a week is great. The Alumier bright and clear is a perfect addition to most skincare routines.

Moisturiser

Light moisturisers are great for summer when skin can be oilier, but with less humidity often brings, drier, tighter flakier skin switching to thicker moisturiser at this time can help. Such as the Alumier hydradew or hydrarich. They help to nourish the skin, adding in the ultimate boost serum can not only prevent and turn back the clock due to its antiaging properties but also really helps improve the hydration of the skin.

DAILY defence

In autumn and winter it can be tempting to stop the SPF. However the UV rays don't disappear in winter. UVA rays penetrate into deeper layers of the skin and are responsible for premature ageing alongside cell damage which can lead to skin cancers.

SPF, is the biggest preventative of skin damage! Wear it daily! The Intradermology synthe 6 is perfect year round protection for most skin types.
